Field Flowers Trio

Trio of cards using Field Flowers

I CASE'd this card from Simple Stampin' - although I changed up the stamp sets used.  I love the color combo of Gumball Green, Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe.  The Gumball Green strip in the corner is definitely one of my favorite things about this card... something I will be doing in the future. :)
You can see I stamped the inside of the card (using the small flower from Summer Silhouette).  I actually lined the envelope with Strawberry Slush DSP from the 2013-2015 In-colors Designer Series Paper stack.

Have you ever lined an envelope before?  It's easy!  Cut a piece of DSP (not card stock) to 3" x 5 11/16" (one line before the 5 3/4" line).  Glue this strip into the envelope and trim excess.  Fold flap so that you can see the crease.  You are all done... yes, it's that easy!
These are two more versions of the card.  I love the different looks of each card!

See you back here tomorrow for more creativity from Stampin' in the Sun!

CAS Timeless Talk Set

Timeless Talk really is... timeless!

This set is adorable and I just had to have it!  I think that about must things stamping.... lol.  Anyway, I made three of the same card using Soft Suede and Crisp Cantaloupe.  Don't they look great together?  Plus they work perfect for a CAS card.  CAS stands for "Cute and Simple".  This card is definitely in that category!
If you are wondering what that embossing is, it's the new folder called "Beautifully Baroque".  You may also notice the awesome new ribbon... stretch ruffle ribbon.  It's my new favorite ribbon!  Wait until you see some creations I plan to make with it!  You are going to fall in LOVE!  :)
I love the little birthday phrase with music notes around it!  So cute!
This phone is SO cute!  There is also a "word bubble" that came with the set but it's pointing in the wrong direction for the phone placement on this card!

Supplies:

Timeless Talk Stamp Set #126605 $22.95/ #126607 $16.95
Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650/ $8.50
Soft Suede #115318 and Crisp Cantaloupe #131298 Card Stock ($6.95 each)
Soft Suede Ink #126978/ $5.95
Crisp Cantaloupe Stretch Ruffle Ribbon #130021/ $8.95
Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder ##130917/ $7.95
Snail Adhesive #104332/ $6.95 (refillable)

See you tomorrow for another CAS card set!

Fab Friday #21

It's another Fab Friday with a sketch!

Welcome back!  Today we have a fabulous sketch for our challenge!  Without further ado, here it is....
At first I was thinking, what am I going to do with this?  I had a limited amount of time so I decided to grab what was pre-cut on my desk - a piece of Crumb Cake and Bermuda Bay card stock.  I started cutting, adding some Costal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe and viola.  Here is what I came up with using the Regarding Dahlias Stamp Set:
Isn't that arrow just so cute?  I love it!
I wanted to show a close-up of the butterflies.  I embossed them using the polka dot embossing folder.  I couldn't decide where I was going to put the little cuties but at the end, I decided they looked the best with the sentiment (which I cut out using the Chalk Talk framelits).

Please check out what the other Fab Friday designers came up with...

Come back tomorrow for more card-spirations!  Keep stampin' in the sun!  :)

Decorating a Paper Mache Letter

Paper Mache Letters

My boyfriend and I are in need of several "thank you" gifts for people we will be staying with in Michigan.  One of the ideas we came up with is Paper Mache Letters covered with buttons.  This letter "A" is for our friend's daughter.
We bought the letters at JoAnn's for $4.99 and the butterfly and flower were each 49 cents.  We used retired Stampin' Up! buttons (I doubt I will ever use them up completely) and hot glued them onto the letter.  We hope she will love this A as much as we loved making it!

Prior to gluing my boyfriend painted (using the cheap paint from JoAnn's) the entire letter 3-4 times.  We wanted to make sure it was covered really good!  As you can see, it didn't require anything technical!
This is for our friend's son - who loves sports.  We decided buttons weren't very "boy" looking!  I think Marc did a great with this project!  We make a great pair (he did most of the work, I came up with the idea (from a friend) and helped hot glue the buttons).

Supplies:

Paper Mache Letters (we used the $4.99 kind from JoAnn's)
Acrylic Paint (79 cents a bottle)
Small Foam Brushes ($3.99 for six)
Pre-painted Shapes, buttons, or any flat trinkets
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks

I can't wait to share another project Marc and I are making together  sometime soon!  Come back tomorrow for more "card" inspiration!

PS: Don't forget yesterday's challenge and blog candy!  Check out the post here!

Coffee Sanity using Perfect Blend

Perfect Blend is "perfect"!

Although I am not a coffee drinker, I do love the smell and I especially love the look of this stamp set.  It's from the new catalog and it's called "Perfect Blend".  I was trying to get the Starbucks look on my card but Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip were not enough, so I added some Soft Sky.
I haven't used the Woodgrain Embossing Folder in a long time so I thought I'd pull it out and use it as the background - it looks like cardboard!  I stamped the sentiment on the Soft Sky and then punched using the new Artisan Label punch (#130920/ $15.95).  I used a piece of CS that was not as wide as the punch, therefore cutting off the top and bottom.  I then layered it on a full punch out of Chocolate Chip.

Do you notice the brads in the top corners of the card?  Those are actually candy dots!  Aren't they just so cool?  They are basically little dots of color with adhesive on the back.  So easy, so simple, yet so pretty!

Blog Candy Giveaway

Your challenge is to make a date with a friend you haven't seen in awhile for coffee!  If meeting up isn't a possibility, why don't you get your card supplies and make them a card (and make sure to mail it).
Once you do one of those things - make a comment about who you made a card for or invited for coffee!  A winner will be selected on June 29th at 8am. You will win a selection of Candy Dots as well as a some retired ribbons and DSP.

Have a great day and enjoy spending "time" with a friend!

There's You using the Chalk Talk Bundle

Chalk Talk Framelits Rock!

I love framelits and I love them even MORE with the new magnetic platform (#130658) that SU! sells!  I earned mine free and it's amazing.  It holds the framelits in place so they don't move all around!  Check it out on page 184 of the Catalog.  It's $39.95 but SO worth the money.

Anyway, back to my card, I used the Chalk Talk Bundle - which includes the Chalk Talk stamp set and framelits and is a 15% savings when you purchase them together in the bundle!

Believe it or not, it's just Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White for the colors (with the Silver Sparkle).  This card was so easy.  I stamped the first image "off" (stamping off literally just means you stamp somewhere else (scrap paper) and then stamp again for your image.  You will get a much lighter version of the image but it coordinates perfectly with the color!  I stamped the sentiment and punched it out using the Extra Large Oval Punch #119859/ $16.95 - oh' and I popped that baby up for some added dimension!

Do you love the paper?  It's called Quatrefancy Speciality Designer Series Paper (#130141/ $12.95).  It's on page 150 if you want to see all of the beautiful patterns.  I love the printed window sheet!

Supplies Used:

Chalk Talk Bundle (stamp set and framelits at 15% off) #132730/ $37.25
stampingsharon.com.jpg
Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White Cardstock
Quatrefancy Speciality DSP
Silver Sparkle Paper
Pumpkin Pie ink
Rhinestones

***This card was CASE'd from my friend Michele and she had CASE'd it from someone.***

You Can Never Have Too Much Happy!

Hanging out in the "Flower Shop"...

My grandparents owned a Flower Shop in Baltimore, Maryland when I was growing up.  I have so many memories from going into the Windsor Flower Shop and just "hanging out".  It was in this place that I learned how to tie my first bow - thanks to my Nannan!  Funny thing is that anytime I smell flower arrangements I think of my grandparents shop!

Anyway, today I am featuring the new stamp set called "Flower Shop" and it's matching punch "Pansy".  I used some of the newest colors: Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Costal Cabana.  I almost said "new" colors but they aren't new anymore - especially to me!
The card base is Bermuda Bay, layered with Crushed Curry and Whisper White.  I am not usually a huge fan of lots of white space but it works here!  I stamped the chevron oval from "Oh' Hello" in the center in Curry and then stamped directly on top with Bermuda.  That phrase is from "Yippee-Skippee!" which has five other fun sentiments!  :)  Don't forget the new button in the center of the middle flower!!  How cute is that?

Tomorrow brings you more cards using new product from the catalog!  Keep on stamping!

Regarding Dahlias

Thanks Dahlias

Sorry that I have been MIA for a few days!  I have been enjoying my busy but fun summer!  I am actually preparing to go on a road trip to Michigan for just over three weeks this summer (while I am there I will fly to Salt Lake City for the Stampin' Up! 25th Anniversary Convention)!

Anyway, back to stamping!  I just love this new stamp set: Regarding Dahlias!   It looks so pretty paired with two of the 2013-2015 Stampin' Up! In-Colors!
I used Costal Cabana and Strawberry Slush for this card.  I know it looks like I used a third color, but it's just Strawberry Slush "stamped off".  I stamped the darker dahlia first, then stamped it again just off to the side.   I also used the new Strawberry Slush stretch ruffled ribbon!  Isn't it just gorgeous?

Stamp Sets used:  Regarding Dahlias and Lots of Thanks
Colors used:  Strawberry Slush, Costal Cabana and Very Vanilla

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day!  See you tomorrow for another fun but simple card!

Extra June Paper Pumpkin Project

Extra Project using June My Paper Pumpkin

I made this project using up the extra supplies from the kit!  Isn't it cute and easy?  The only extra items you'd need are a Daffodil Delight and Rose Red ink pads.  So cute, so easy but so striking!

Come back tomorrow for a card using new products from the new catalog!

June Paper Pumpkin Variations

June My Paper Pumpkin

I was so excited to see the goodies in this month's box.  My Paper Pumpkin came in the mail on Monday and here are the four cards I made using the kit!  This card is the exact card that was created using the idea sheet in the kit:
The following three cards are variations I made using Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red markers and ink.  I also used the small heart punch and the flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.  The 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon really showcases these colors and this card!  I love the little hexagons!
For the above card I colored the sentiment using the 3 different marker colors - coloring light to dark.
I added a small flower to the center of the bow to give it a little "cute"!
I really needed the Stamp-a-ma-Jig for the above card but I didn't have it where I nanny.  So I had to pretend like I meant to stamp crooked.  LOL  I am not sure it worked.  I only colored the word hello for this card!  I also added a strip of ribbon without a bow - not sure how I feel about it!

Believe it or not, I still have extra little hexagon shapes to use on another project (I am thinking a scrapbook page).

Tomorrow I will have a project using the stamps from the kit, plus the stamp images!

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day!

One of my favorite memories with my dad was watching Cops together every Saturday night.  Believe it or not, my lifelong dream as a child was to become a "DEA Agent".  I know, hard to believe since I am a 3rd grade teacher now (but I do feel like a cop sometimes!!!).  Anyway, I am lucky to have a hard working, honest, intelligent dad!  Thanks dad for all you have given me!  I am so blessed!
Although my dad doesn't wear a tie anymore - as a child, he did.  He was a Detective for a Police Department in Michigan.  The day he retired, he stopped wearing ties.  But as a kid, I remember giving him a tie for every holiday!  Thanks to my friend Michele Keifer for giving me this idea (which I used in two recent classes).  I used the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set again... this is a go-to stamp set for me lately!

How did I make the bow ties?  Simple, I used the Pennant Builder Punch!

You can get your own Pennant Builder Punch by clicking on the "Shop Now" link in the right corner.  #122361 $16.95

Blog Candy:

Leave a comment with your favorite memory of your dad!  I have a gift for one lucky reader!  Comment number will be picked randomly by my boyfriend!  Please subscribe to my blog if you haven't already and you must comment by Tuesday at 8pm to be in the drawing!  Good luck!

Tape It and Washi Tape CASE

What a better CASE than from our fearless leader of Stampin' Up!... Shelli Gardner.  Shelli posted a card similar to this on her soshelli.com blog recently.  I loved the idea so much I had to steal it!
I changed up my card a little bit by making it a square card (4.25 inches).  I used the oval framelits to mat my "hi" focal point.  I used the Tape It stamp set for all of the images except the yellow gingham for the center of the "H".  I used the Gingham Garden Washi Tape for the center and used my paper snips to make an exact line.  Check out the Tape It set here:

#130712 $26.95 (Wood) or #130715 $18.95 (Clear)

If you are wondering where that sentiment at the bottom comes from, it's in the "Blessings from Heaven" Stamp set.  Here are the images included:
#128487 $18.95 (Wood) or #123052 $14.95 (Clear)

Fab Friday #20

Fab Friday #20 is here!  Can you believe this is our 20th challenge?  I cannot believe it myself!  This week we have a color challenge and boy was it a challenge for me!
As you can see, we had to use all of the 5 new in-colors in our item.  It was challenging for me as I can see using two or maybe even three of them together, but five?!  Here is what I came up with:
I used the new Timeless Talk stamp set and paired it with a sentiment from the From My Heart stamp set.  It's funny because at first, I wasn't too happy with my creation and now,  I am considering using this as one of my swaps for convention!  Isn't the Natural Trim perfect for this card!  I can't wait to make a few more cards using this stamp set!

Check out the other Design Team Member Creations and leave us some commenting love please:

Come back tomorrow for more stamping creations from Stampin' in the Sun!

Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop

Welcome to our June Blog Hop!

The Stylin' Stampin' Squad Blog Hop is having a party - a Release Party!  There are 12 stops on today's hop, all featuring items from the new Annual 2013-2014 Catalog!  Hop along and leave us some comment love at the end of each post!  I am pretty impressed with my creation today as it's all my idea!  :)
I used the set "Gifts of Kindness" which is one of my favorite new sets, mostly because it's easy to use and has a bunch of sentiments (7 to be exact).  You can find this stamp set on page 83 in the catalog.

Card Details: I used Pear Pizzaz, Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  I added the pearls to the center of each flower.  My favorite part is the "chevron" details on the top and bottom of the flower.  I cut apart some Afternoon Picnic DSP to create this look!  I added some of my favorite "candy", or should I say, Candy Dots, in Smoky Slate to each end.  I have already ordered some more Candy Dots since I have already used so many!

Birthday Candles for Kids

Birthday Candles

The Birthday Candles Wheel was one of the items I wanted the most in the new catalog!  I unmounted the wheel so it was easier to use.  By the way, un-mounting the wheel makes it so much easier to use!   I unmounted it and cut it into 3 separate stamps.
I also love this birthday stamp from the Bring on the Cake stamp set.  You can color in the age of the person you are sending it to.  I used Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Real Red.  I also used the Brushed Silver Card Stock embossed using the Chevron Embossing Folder.

Come back tomorrow for the Stampin' Stylin' Squad Blog Hop!  We are featuring all new items from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog.

"Tape It" with Washi Tape

Tape It

I don't know why, but every time I see the name of this stamp set, I think of the Nike saying, "Just Do It".  Anyway, sorry this post is a bit late, I started summer break on Friday afternoon!  :)
I made this card for "fun".  But it has turned out to be a card I will likely make more of.  I don't normally love the messy look, but I really love the way this set looks.  It really does look like Washi Tape!  I also used some Washi Tape on the top and bottom.  This card is great for anyone, but specifically for a man!

Secret Garden meets Gingham Garden

Bright and Cheerful

When I make cards, especially during the summer, I love to use bright and cheerful colors!  This card is a perfect example.  Although when I first look at it, I find it "busy" - I really do love the colors and patterns!  Gingham Garden is one of my favorite DSP's in the Annual Catalog!
I used the gingham print and the floral prints, matted them both and then thought I'd make two flowers to pop up.  I really which I made two of the flowers on the left outlined in white... but instead I made two different, both embossed, one in white and one in Melon Mambo.

I wouldn't call this card my favorite but that is the BEAUTY of card making.  Not everything you make will be your favorite but there are some people who will LOVE this card.  I keep every card I make because I know the receiver always loves a handmade card!

Come back tomorrow for my week of "new" stuff and a giveaway!  YAY!!!!

University of Michigan Birthday Card

Go Wolverines!

This is a short post because today is the first day of my Summer Break and I am going to the beach!  I can't believe this school year is over!  I was so sad seeing the current 5th graders gets "clapped out" - they were my 3rd graders just 2 years ago.  Time really does fly!  These kids have grown up so fast!  I may not be a parent yet, but I certainly feel like it sometimes!  Enjoy every minute with your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, etc...
My boyfriend is a huge University of Michigan fan!  His birthday was earlier this week and I got him some U of M stuff.  I made this card using Night of Navy, Crushed Curry and Silver Sparkle.

See you back here tomorrow for more creativity!

My new stuff has arrived!

I am sorry to post a second time today but I had to share my new card using my NEW goodies!  My first order from the 2013-2014 Annual Catalog.  Do you have your copy?  Contact me to get one!  Here's the card from my first "favorite" set.  (Notice how I said, "first"?  That's because I have MANY favorites!)

I used several new products in this card:

I am going to need to order several additional packs of those adorable Candy Dots.  They are self adhesive little dots that give dimension without having to poke a hole like a brad or attach a glue dot like a button!  Order some here!!!

"Create a Cupcake" and Hearts Away...

Hearts away with the Cupcake Builder Punch...

First, the color combo of this stamp set is my favorite!  These are four of the 2013-2015 In-colors: Strawberry Slush, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar and Costal Cabana!  The sentiment comes from "Bring on the Cake".  This is my second time using this stamp set this week!  Check out the stamps included in this amazing set:
You can get this set in my online store.  Enter the #121958 for the clear mount set ($27.95) or #128490 ($38.95) for all 13 images!  What a great deal!
Are you wondering where that beautiful paper comes from?  Quatrefancy Special Designer Series Paper #130141 ($12.95).  I LOVE the bright colors in this DSP set.  It comes with this clear "window sheet" with the quatrefoil print in Whisper White.  I can't wait to use that one either!

Tomorrow is the last Create a Cupcake example!

"Create a Cupcake" Flower Pot

Yes, a third way to use the Cupcake Stamp Set & Builder Punch... a flower pot!

Who doesn't love flowers and they certainly look super cute in the little Raspberry Ripple Pots.  I used a marker to make the stems on the flowers and put a small pearl in the center of each flower.  I cut out the banner from the Sketched Birthday stamp set (I got this for attending Leadership back in January!).

I used the Dynamic Duos Color Challenge!  I just love the two colors together!

Come back tomorrow to see another way to use this versatile stamp set and punch!

By the Tide Shaker Card

By the Tide Shaker Card with... sand!

*** Sorry for the second posting today, total mistake!  I thought I scheduled it for a different day and it posted!  AWWWWW!!!  I made this card for my boyfriend for his birthday.  I made two cards because I gave one to him this one in the morning with a small present and the other card will be given to him tonight after we have cake!  :)  Anyway, he loves the beach and fishing. so I thought this set was perfect for him!

I love the shaker cards but I rarely do them because I thought they were "hard".  Ha!  Not really.  I stamped the background, the adhered the foam frame, dumped in some sand, and then added the clear window sheet circle on top.  I then cut the circles to make it look like a window on a boat!  It was super plain so I added the greeting and viola!  I just love the way it looks.

Supplies:

Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party, Island Indigo Ink
Island Indigo, Pool Party, Crumb Cake and Naturals White Card Stock
Pearls
Word Window and Modern Label Punches
Shaker Frames
Medium Window Sheets
Circle Punches

"Create a Cupcake" Purse

Yes... these purses are made from cupcakes!

Okay, not real cupcakes... but they are made using the Cupcake Builder Punch #121807 ($16.95).

How to make the purse:

How did I make these cute little cupcakes?  I simply stamped and punched out the bottom portion of a cupcake.  Then I flipped it over and added a "tab" and a handle.  Super technical, I know!

To make the "handle" I punched a 3/4 circle from paper.  I set it aside (you will use later).

I then punched around the smaller hole.

This makes a larger circle with a smaller circle cut out in the center.

I then cut that "special circle" in half and attached it to the back of the purse.
Remember the small circle? Cut that in half and attach to the "purse" to act as the "flap".

Special Fold:

You may also notice that the "fold" of the card comes from the Raspberry Ripple, not the Night of Navy.  Well, I cut the NoN 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and then cut the NoN 5 1/4 x 8 (and then folded in half).

Supplies used:

Raspberry Ripple and Night of Navy card stock and ink
Create a Cupcake and Bring on the Cake Stamp Sets
Silver Sparkle DSP
Argyle Embossing Folder
Rhinestones
3/4" and 1" Circle Punches
Word Window and Modern Label Punches

Happy Birthday to my amazing boyfriend Marc!!  And... Happy Adoption Day (2 years ago) to my sweet doggy Arnie!  The two loves of my life celebrating on the same day!
